APRIL AWARENESS

Me on a Friday afternoon! Long week of work, gave myself a fright after opening my hair and looking into the mirror, haha.

Hei amazing people,

How did everyone's awareness exercise go? Did you get as frustrated as I did, realising how small my thought loops are! Still working on it, it’s not an overnight job to change your thoughts, perspective, and reactions. The main thing is awareness, if you don’t have awareness, you can’t change your habits, thoughts, movement patterns etc. This is something I discuss with almost all of you in almost all of the treatment sessions. But also keep in mind that you can’t be 100% perfect in every single thing you do in life, and that’s not even the goal, is it? Awareness doesn’t mean perfection, it means you are feeling and acknowledging what’s happening, not even necessarily acting on it, just observing and deciding later on what to do with your findings. So stay aware, whatever it is you are working on.

I am currently super aware of how quickly time goes! I make plans, and at the end of they feel disappointed that I haven’t done half of the things on my list. There are 2 problems with this: I get easily distracted, and as my partner has kindly pointed out to me, my lists are ridiculous. So, how do we attack this issue? Make better plans? Don’t get distracted by a cat walking past? The second option isn’t really an option, so I’ll go with the first one, haha. All of us have 24h in a day, no matter where we are, that’s a solid fact. What we do with those 24h is what makes a difference to our lives. For me:

  1. Sleep is non-negotiable, 8-10h is minimum for me to actually feel good and function properly.

That leaves me with 14-16h.

  1. Waking up is a slow and appreciated procedure. That involves cat time, checking up the schedule, heating the house, organizing/cleaning, and all the usual brushing my teeth, washing my face, putting on 5 layers of clothing as it is always cold in New Zealand, at least an hour.

  2. Breakfast & read a book, another hour.

  3. Yoga or walk, another hour.

That’s 3 h gone in my morning, doing stuff that is important to me, 11-13h left.

  1. Work, including lunch 1h, takes 8-10h of my day.

That leaves me 1-5h left to achieve my to-do list, go to sauna, play with the cats, exercise, socialize, to do life admin.

It’s a good exercise to break your day-to-day routine into hours used for each task, to realise if you are actually enjoying what you do or if you are using your valuable time efficiently. That being said, there’s your challenge for this month. When you know where your time goes, you can negotiate with yourself if something needs to be changed. And as said before, keep in mind life isn't about being perfect at all times, cut yourself some slack if and when you “waste time”. I have full-blown conversations with myself daily (as every other insane person does) if I can read for 10mins longer, or if moving a bookshelf is an absolute must when I have 30mins extra time at lunch, the results of these conversations vary broadly. I also use alarms, otherwise, I would easily still be sitting on the sofa on the porch when my first client arrives. Good luck with your next awareness challenge, and I would be delighted to hear what tools you use to stay on track with time and tasks.

It is exactly 4 weeks to go before my last work day 16th of May (back in business 11th of August). Calendar is pretty full, so book your spot asap, if you want one before winter. In case you can’t find anything, give me a call and I’ll see what I can do. Also, I want to thank you all. I have had many new clients lately who have heard good things about me. Really warms my heart to hear that I have been able to help you guys so well that you are willing to spread the word! Currently making a plan for my winter holiday, how I can expand my knowledge to assist and help even better in the future.

Love
